Annette Funicello, an American performer and actress. She was best known as one of the original "Mouseketeers" on the 'Mickey Mouse Club.' In her teens Annette began her professional career in singing and became known for the hit song "Tall Paul" as well as "Pineapple Princess.' Annette was raised in Utica with parents who were Italian immigrants. Her shyness was evident as a young child. Annette wanted to pursue her dream of becoming an entertainer and began dancing and acting. Being a "Mouseketeer" in Disney sketches, Annette gained a lot of fame during the 1950s. Annette was able to shed her 'Disney" persona that she developed as a child and take on a variety of adult characters.
