Arike Ogunbowale
Arike Ogunbowale (born on April 2, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. She is part of the Dallas Wings and the Women's National Basketball Association. She played for Notre Dame Fighting Irish in college, before being drafted with the number 5 overall by the Wings during the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was conceived on the 2nd March, 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale (26) and Dare Ogunbowale(20) are two of her siblings. Being the youngest of her siblings she was the one who was most spoilt of her parents. Her father Gregory was with the Nigerian Army for quite some duration. Ogunbowale is from a family with ties to the sports world. Her brother Dare played football, and Yolanda Ogunbowale, her mother was a softball player. Her cousin Endia Olive is also a volleyball player in Tennessee State. Ogunbowale has been on the Honor Roll at her school for three consecutive years. In high school, she has received numerous awards and has gained fame. Arike received her diploma at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School that is situated in Arike's hometown. Alongside her studies Arike also played on three varsity teams while at Divine Holy Angels Savior High School. The skills of Ogunbowale led to impressive victories while at the school. High schooler Ogunbowale has made an appearance in 73 games and has accumulated 1,477 rebounds and 1,477 rebound during her professional career. Ogunbowale participated at her first 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship and won Gold medals there. The 7th of July, 2014 was the day that Ogunbowale was named to the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was also selected to the ACC All-Freshman Team for her first time in a collegiate game. The coach even thanked Kobe Bryant.
